OUR KITCHEN

Our kitchen has been completed for a while now but today I finally got a chance to take some pics. Having a small space to work with Mr. White pulled off a pretty darn good kitchen, which features a white wash oregon bench top, hidden dishwasher, concealed washing machine and dryer and silent closing draws (not sure what the technical term for this is)! Just recently Mr. White designed and made this custom packing crate coffee table with glass top. The combination of old and new works so well in this beautiful home of white walls, black floor boards and soft timbers.

MARKET WRAP UP!

Well the FINDERS KEEPERS MARKETS are over for another year.We had a great time meeting new people and seeing some familiar faces.

There were soo many great stores and products to look at. One stall that we really liked were 'The Horse', which is an amazing young couple from Cronulla in Sydney. Not only were they very friendly but they design some pretty epic shoes. We didnt get a chance to purchase any of their products but I have been checking out their website and see a couple of shoes I might just have to get. Check them out HERE

The other stall we liked is called minyaka design, which is two talented designers who design eco-freindly children's wear. I was looking at their products a lot as it was opposite our store and will be perfect for our daughter, Selah, when she gets a little older. Check them out HERE

Mr White and myself have been busy beavers getting ready for the 'Finders Keepers Markets' which are less than two weeks away (2nd + 3rd Dec)!!! BABY WHITE PHOTO SHOOT

With a baby of our own on the way (very soon) Nathan and I have been inspired to start a new line of products called Baby White. The new line will include textiles, furniture, toys and accessories for the child who loves all things natural and neutral. Below is a sneak peak at the first photo shoot, starring our cute little nephew Zai. He was happy to pose for our range in exchange for a baby chino...and possibly a cookie (don't tell your mum).

BRANCHING OUT

Nothing does the soul better than some furniture rearranging and experimentation. In our newly renovated bedroom a white wall sits on its lonesome behind our bed. Eventually it will be home to an artwork or image, framed by Mr White of course. But until that day I have let nature reside, branching out with some of our backyard goodness.

GRANDMA

Today I received a very special package in the mail from my uncle. A set of pre World War II colouring pencils, that were used to colorize black and white photos. They are special because my Grandma, back in the day before colour photos, used to colour in photos as a job. Below is a photo of my grandma in her 20s that she coloured herself. It has been 3 weeks since her passing and this set of colouring pencils will always be a reminder of her colourful and creative spirit that I loved so much. Thanks uncle David.

NESTING

Nesting...a term used to describe the preparation phase before a mother brings home her new baby. I am 29 weeks pregnant (6.5 months) and its getting to that stage where preparation is vital. I only have 2.5 months to go and we have not bought one thing yet! This is mostly due to the fact that we have been renovating our flat for the past 2 months and there is no space to put magazines let alone cots, cribs and baby wipes. The new baby's room is currently home to my sewing machine, nathan's tools and many other bits and bobs that don't yet have a home...sigh. But Alas! Renovations are coming to a victorious end and thus it is time to prepare...nesting here I come.

SLICE SUCCESS...?

One of my failures as a wife has been my inability/drive/patience to bake...such things like cookies, cakes and most of all (to my husbands dismay) slices. His favourite is choc-caramel...a sugar-filled childhood treat perfected by his mother and one that has haunted me in my few attempts at trying to replicate the delicious memory of my husbands past. So far...no success in the slice department. I tell myself...'there's two types of people in this world...savoury people and sweet people...I'm the latter'. Despite my flaws you must give me credit for the attempt or attempts...there has been 3 so far. My most recent attempt started at 5:30 pm yesterday. I wish I could say the image below was the result of my afternoon battle but nay...my attempt was not worthy of a photo. My husband said and I quote "the slice has beaten you...are you gonna let it? or will you rise and conquer?" To this I say "Hell no...I've been defeated...and do I care...no not really...I don't like slice that much. I think you will have to go elsewhere to fulfill your slice needs...there's a bakery down the road. Love you xx

MR & MRS WHITE'S BATHROOM

Ok...so I promised Mrs White that I would write something when I finished doing renovations, so here goes. Even though the renovations are not completely finished I have finished the bathroom so Mrs White convinced me to share it with you.

I must admit I enjoyed doing this but my favorite thing to do is make furniture.

The bench top of the vanity is from recycled oregon which I picked up from an old factory demolition. It is finished with a nice whitewash to give it that driftwood kind of look.

I will post more when we are completely finished and stay tuned for the baby room furniture fit out.

FRAMES

There's nothing like a well made frame that lets the photo, print or artwork tell its own story. My husband makes the frames you see below - made from recycled hardwood and plywood. I love the image of the American Indian woman. My husband framed it for me last year and I often find myself staring at it...mesmerised by the mysterious woman who boldly stands before the camera with her gathered sticks and braided hair.
